Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Grand Rounds 1- Was it the Fiddle?
This course includes
Overview:
Grand Rounds have historically been a methodology of medical education consisting of presenting the medical problems and treatment of a particular patient to an audience consisting of doctors, pharmacists, residents, and medical students.
The Adjunct Education Committee of the National Orthopaedic Division is initiating Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Grand Rounds, which gathers physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals to highlight the importance of an interprofessional collaboration in treatment.
This course is a recording from the first case that was presented online on Nov. 24, 2022. Clinicians discuss a case of a challenging motor vehicle accident (MVA) patient who has symptoms of post-concussion syndrome as well as pain and dysfunction in her cervical and thoracic spine and right shoulder.
Case Presenter:
Jill Robertson PT, MScPT, FCAMPT, Clinical Specialist MSK, Chief Examiner NOD
I have been in clinical practice since 1987. I opened Jill Robertson Physiotherapy and Consulting in January 2017. Previously I owned and operated Beaverbank Orthopaedic and Sport Physiotherapy in Lower Sackville, N.S. as well as Young Kempt Physiotherapy in Halifax. I also teach part time at Dalhousie University, the Orthopaedics courses in the School of Physiotherapy. I am an instructor and chief examiner for the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. My Masters thesis examined manual therapy treatment of the hip. I believe manual therapy (for example to help restore joint motion, muscle length, and nerve mobility) is an important component in the rehabilitation of many patients.
