Simplifying the Foot and Ankle - the EEMO Approach
Simplifying the Foot and Ankle - the EEMO Approach
This course includes
Overview
The cause of a patient's foot pain, especially if chronic, can be difficult to diagnose. Treatment of this complicated region may require patient education, exercise, manual therapy, and other adjunctive therapies such as tape and modalities.
Join Jill Robertson, an esteemed instructor and chief examiner from the Orthopaedic Division of the CPA for an online healthcare course that focuses on simplifying the assessment and treatment of the foot and ankle.
This course provides a critical overview for mechanisms of injury and pain in the foot and ankle, including:
- Foot and ankle neurodynamics,
- The implications of recalcitrant injuries, and
- Muscle and tendon pathology.
The EEMO (Education, Exercise, Manual Therapy, and Other) approach frames a simple but effective approach to assessing, treating, and educating patients.
Jill Robertson uses her clinical expertise and experience to translate complex topics and theories into a step-by-step approach for those who take this course to implement into their practice immediately.
In this course, Jill conveys common subjective and objective findings for differential diagnoses of the lateral foot and ankle. She provides detailed insight into the neurodynamic and musculoskeletal mechanisms for these experiences.
Finally, this course also provides insight to taping and manual therapy techniques that can be implemented for a variety of different functional deficits. These techniques are demonstrated and provided in-course for you to refer to as you implement these skills into your own practice.
Learning Objectives
In this online course, you will:
- Develop clinical reasoning skills that enable the clinician to determine the cause of the foot pain.
- Further your understanding of potential differential diagnoses of the foot and ankle and how they may present in real time.
- Learn to implement a multi-modal treatment approach to foot pain, including manual therapy skills, specific exercises, and taping.
Audience
This course is designed for physiotherapists and other rehabilitation professionals to gain expert insight into the assessment, exercise prescription, and manual therapy techniques for the foot and ankle. It is meant to inform clinicians with a deeper knowledge of this complex region and provide new tools to implement into their practice immediately.
Join Jill Robertson and the Canadian Physiotherapy Association for this online course “Simplifying the Foot and Ankle - the EEMO Approach”.
Presenter’s Biography:
Jill Robertson - BSc (PT) 1987, MSc (PT) 2001. Instructor for the Orthopaedic Division of CPA from 1996-Present. Chief Examiner for the Orthopaedic Division of CPA from 1996-Present. Part-time Academic Instructor at Dalhousie University 1990-Present. Jill was fortunate to take foot courses from Deb Treloar and Erl Pettman in BC in the late 1980s. When Jill began teaching the foot on the Orthopaedic Division level courses she realized how many physiotherapists were uncomfortable with this region. She began teaching 1 and 2-day courses on the foot to fulfill this need in Atlantic Canada.
