Overview
As our social landscape changes, more people are feeling empowered and supported to live in a way that is congruent with their gender identity. Many of us as health care providers may not have had exposure or training on offering affirming care to gender-diverse and trans folk. We, in our profession as pelvic physiotherapists, all want to provide the people we care for with a secure and supportive environment.
This online course will focus on specifics for providing care to trans and gender-diverse people. It offers a safe space in which questions and discussions are welcomed.
Topics covered will include: terms and language, an overview of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) standards of care, the basics of hormone therapy, physiotherapy care pre and post-operatively as well as specific considerations for such things as binding and tucking.
This course is taught by Céleste Corkery and brought to you by Pelvic Health Solutions.

The instructors
Céleste earned her Physiotherapy degree from the University of Ottawa in 2008, graduating with honours. Attending the Pelvic Health Solutions series has ignited a desire to educate and advocate on issues related to pelvic floor dysfunctions. She believes in patient-centered care and her focus is on empowering her patients through positive experiences.
Céleste is working as a member of the Toronto Academic Pain Medicine Institute (TAPMI). In her time with TAPMI, she has played an integral part in developing the pelvic pain clinic. She has also been involved in creating a role for pelvic physiotherapy in the care team for people undergoing vaginoplasty surgery. She is passionate about advancing her knowledge base and expertise through continuing education which has led her to pursue her MBA at the Rotman School of Management. She is currently in the role of clinical manager for the TAPMI program.
Pelvic Health Solutions (PHS) is an evidence-based teaching company that aims to educate and empower physiotherapists, healthcare professionals, and everyday people about pelvic health.
PHS was founded in 2010 out of the need to develop pelvic health resources in Ontario at a time when it was an under-serviced health concern. PHS provides continuing education courses, mentoring, and clinical resources for a variety of practitioners with the goal of equipping them to deliver evidence-based, biopsychosocial assessment and treatment of pelvic health problems in our province and abroad.
Our company also exists as a way to connect people experiencing pelvic health concerns to pelvic health physiotherapists in their area. PHS has ultimately blossomed into a community of curious people who are committed to providing hope and healing to those who suffer from pelvic health issues.
